Mystery Box challenge



The Shoalhaven Foodies decided to give themselves a challenge with a Mystery Box.

The challenge was to make a dish from one or even all of the six ingredients, photograph it and put it on the web site.    
          
Here are the six ingredients the Foodies could choose from, using one or more, or all of the ingredients: 
  • mushrooms (choice of variety or mixed)
  • parsnips
  • a duck (whole or any part)
  • almonds
  • cream cheese (low or full fat)
  • plums
The Foodies could also use the basic ingredients from the pantry and fridge: e.g. eggs, cream, sugar, oils, flour, baking powder etc, gelatine, sugar, stock, honey, salt, pepper, gelatine, herbs (dried and fresh), butter, sour cream, yogurt, coffee, teas......etc.

Here is what we came up with ......

Kimella made a parsnip and almond cake with plum sauce
Chere made mushrooms in aspic two ways.....
First, with sunset plum sauces, yoghurt and olive oil drizzle

then with home-made creme fraiche, chives and paprika

Kim made a red curry duck with lychees and grapes
  
and for dessert she made poached plums with yoghurt, toasted almonds and a sprig of mint for garnish





Max made three dishes!



Duck with plums, mashed parsnip & parsnip chips; ground almond & cheese stuffed mushroom....

 Mushrooms stuffed with ground almonds cream cheese ....


and Plum Tart in cream cheese custard with almond pastry !
